Make Your Career Bullet Proof in a Turbulent Economy

Our unstable economy has made the workplace more competitive than ever. Financial services firms, retailers, and even your neighborhood Starbuck’s are feeling the crunch. You can increase the likelihood of not just surviving in this economy, but thriving by being the kind of employee who adds value. Try following these ten simple steps to increase the likelihood of being bullet proof:

1. Make it easy to give you feedback by regularly asking what you can do “more of” or “less of” to better meet the boss’s expectations.

2. When you are given feedback, don’t rebut it or argue with it. Simply listen, thank the boss for taking the time to give it to you and promise that you will take it seriously. Then act in ways that show you got the message.

3. Learn the boss’s primary objectives and develop your own goals around those. Be certain to illuminate how your actions are in sync with his or hers. Making the boss look good makes you look good.

4. Don’t cry on the boss’s shoulder. Even though some appear very kind and understanding, bosses really don’t want to play the role of psychologist. If you do break down in front of the boss, excuse yourself and do your boo-hooing in private.

5. Never try to change the boss. It’s not your job. You can (and should) ask for what you need to be effective (more time together, more feedback, etc.) but whether or not you get it is entirely up to the boss.

6. Distinguish your boss from your parents, husband or other meaningful people in your life. Many times women react to the boss as they might to a parent because the boss is an authority figure of sorts. This can result in you misinterpreting the boss’s behavior or comments.

7. See your boss as a human being, not a one-dimensional entity. The boss is bound to make mistakes, let you down, and have his or her own problems too. This economy is making everyone jittery. Don’t put bosses on a pedestal — they’ll always tumble off. Be as forgiving as you would want the boss to be with you.

8. Deliver more than you promise. Make certain you meet or beat deadlines, submit work free from errors, and go the extra mile to interpret data, not just report it.

9. Avoid being a “high maintenance” employee. Too many complaints, too many challenges, or being too needy will put you in this category. As one CEO said, “I like it when people push once and push twice. Three times is too many.”

10. If you’ve done all the things described above and you still don’t trust your boss, if the boss is making your life miserable, or if it’s clear your boss doesn’t trust you, you have only three options: wait the boss out until a new one comes in; transfer to another department within your company; quit. It’s that simple.

The Whole Body Detox - Refresh Your Mind, Body and Spirit

When doing a whole body detox many people forget that the spirit is also an important part of the body and the detoxification process. Negative thought processes build stress; stress in turn creates a negative impact on the body’s ability to function ultimately leading to an increase in toxins within the body.

This is why when doing a whole body detox it is important to include not just the processes that cover flushing out the internal physical parts of the body, putting in the fuel necessary to get these organs and processes back into working order but also creating the right mind set and preparing the spirit.

You may have noticed in getting ready to do a whole body detox that people who are really into living a healthy lifestyle tend to be very upbeat and positive people. They have tons of energy, a ready smile and they tend to have a way of drawing others to them. This is what is missing from many people when they do a whole body detox, especially when they do the weekend purges. These are great, if you want to torture yourself but a true whole body detox takes time and is done gradual. Creating stress within the body simply adds a greater potential for an increase in toxins and since nothing in the lifestyle actually changes, chances are most people who do the weekend whole body detox programs end up going right back to the things that had them doing a detox in the first place.

A whole body detox is about changing your lifestyle, eating right, thinking right and having the right outlook on life. This provides you with everything you need to lead the lifestyle you have been looking for. The one where you look and feel like your age or younger and you have the energy to take on your job, your family and your life.

The first thing to do is keep in mind that a whole body detox is going to take three or more months and that the dietary whole body detox programs should last around 28 days. This allows your body to adjust to the new diet, remove the toxins, build up the good nutrients and get used to having the fuel it needs without creating undue stress on your body. Wraps, dry brushing and other skin detoxification techniques help to draw the heavy metals and other toxins from the skin. Meditation helps with breathing to remove toxins from the body via the lungs, and supply oxygen, which is necessary to fuel the detoxification processes.

Meditation also leads to an awareness of emotional and self which can help you to locate areas where you create stress and toxic situations for yourself. A whole body detox is not just about mending the body but also the mind and the spirit so that you can enjoy everything that life has to offer while being able to take on anything that comes your way in stride. These are some of the benefits you can receive by taking the time to engage in a whole body detox program.

5 Common Joint Venture Mistakes Internet Marketers Make

As a joint venture broker, and mentor to many marketers launching new products, I see a lot of Internet marketers making many of the same mistakes.

Some of these easy-to-correct mistakes can mean the difference between a wildly successful launch, and one that doesn’t even sell enough of the product to cover development costs.

Here are five all-to-common mistakes that can kill a joint venture product launch before it even gets out of the staring blocks.

Setting Goals For Getting Your Dream Job

Are you miserable at work? Well, you’re not alone. According to a 2007 survey conducted by The Conference Board, less than half of all Americans are happy with their jobs. For young adults below the age of 25, the numbers are even more striking: only two out of five people in this age group are satisfied with their careers.

Like it or not, you spend 40 hours a week or more at work. Most people see those 40 hours of misery each week as just another fact of life. But what if you could change it? What if you could do something else, something you actually wanted to do? Even though it may seem like you’re stuck right now, you’re not. By using an organized process of setting goals, identifying what you need to accomplish to meet those goals, and acting on your objectives, you can break free from your current job and land the job of your dreams.

Things You Like

First, you need to figure out what you want to be doing instead of your current job. Obviously, your dream job is going to be something that you enjoy. You may think that getting paid to do something you enjoy is impossible, but in reality almost anyone can find a career that they like if they look hard enough. In fact, you’re much more likely to be successful if you enjoy your work.

The easiest way to pinpoint your dream job is to use visual aids, like a list or a mind map (goal mapping software is a great option). It doesn’t matter whether you use a pen and paper or a computer program - getting everything written down where you can see it will help you get a clear picture of your job goal and what you need to do to get there. So, start by listing the things you like to do. What interests you? What do you do in your spare time? What is your passion?

Your Skills

Next, you need to identify your skills, the things that you’re good at. Are you a whiz at math? Are you the person people call when their computer breaks down? Everyone has their own personal skill set. Start thinking about the things you do well and make a list. Don’t forget to include skills that you’ve developed in your current career. However, don’t limit yourself only to skills that you have formal training in, either.

Once you have a list of skills, try to identify which of the skills on the list you are best at. If you’d like, you can assign each skill a number, using \”1\” for your strongest skill and going from there. Now that you’ve identified what you like to do and what your strongest skills are, look over the two lists to see if there’s any correlation. Then, find a job that involves doing something you like using the skills you are strongest in.

If you’re stuck, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Outlook Handbook can help you get a sense of what’s out there. A job that you enjoy doing that capitalizes on your natural talents - now doesn’t that sound like a dream job to you?

Specialize

Now that you’ve identified your dream job, what do you need to do to get there? It’s time to start identifying the objectives you need to accomplish to achieve your goal. Most careers require a specialized skill set.

Even though you should have the basic skills and aptitudes to be successful in your dream job, chances are that you don’t yet have the specialized knowledge that the field requires. So, think about what you need to do to get that knowledge. Do you need to go back to school? Do you need to attend a training seminar and get a certification?

The first objectives you set will be related to obtaining the training and skills you need to succeed in your dream career. This is where getting your dream job can start getting stressful, because it takes real effort to learn additional skills when you are already working a full-time job. However, if you stick to your guns, you will eventually be rewarded.

Make a list of what you need to do to get those specialized skills, and start creating objectives and deadlines for yourself. For example, let’s say you’ve decided your dream job is to be a pilot. Here’s what a list of objectives might look like:

  • Save money for flight school/investigate financial aid options: within the next six months.

  • Enroll in flight school: within the next year.

  • Apply for pilot’s license: within the next year and a half.

  • If you identify what you need to do to become qualified for your dream job, break it down into a number of smaller tasks, set deadlines to complete these tasks, and follow through, then sooner or later you’ll be ready to take the next step forward.

    Create a Proven Record

The next set of objectives involves creating a convincing r

Six Steps to Writing an Offer That Inspires Customers to ACT

Until fairly recently, writing marketing copy was a strange and mysterious undertaking to me.

It’s funny because when I was doing advertising research, I often worked closely with copywriters. I would interview customers to learn how they responded to different messages and report back to the creative team. Sometimes the copywriter or art director would have questions they wanted me to ask my focus groups. So I got to know the writers and their work pretty well.

Yet, when they went back to their desk to actually create the message, I had no idea how they came up with the words that moved customers to action.

What Makes a Siamese Cat So Different?

The traditional Siamese cat or Apple Head as sometimes recognized is one of the oldest breeds of domestic cats. It still looks to this day as the breed originally would have looked when it was first imported from Siam. The breed is still a lovely muscular athletic looking cat with a beautiful round head and striking blue eyes.

The breed has managed to maintain the contrast between the point and body color that is so characteristic of this breed. The traditional Siamese cat is also known as old-style or classic Siamese cat as well Apple Head. The other kind of Siamese cat is known as the show-style or modern Siamese cat and looks a bit different with shorter hair, thinner bodies, long snouts and big ears. This article is about the classic or Apple Head Siamese cat.

The Siamese are very calm, loving cats by nature and can reach an age of between 15 to 20 years, although it has been known for some to live longer than 20 years. Many legends surround the origin of this breed especially the crossed eyes and kinked tails.

There are legends that most people will have heard if they have taken an interest in this breed of cat and those legends are that the Siamese cat was considered sacred and guarded Buddhist temples, with only royalty and priests keeping the cat.

It was in the west in the late 1800s that the first Siamese cats appeared. At first sight, they were described as a nightmare kind of cat and unnatural although later they became popular. They were at the beginning very delicate and prone to health problems. It was the early breed that had the kinked tails and crossed eyes that today are considered to be faults but through careful breeding over the years, this has disappeared.

The traditional Siamese cat is purebred and these are descended from original cats imported from Siam. Ones that you may find in shelters although looking Siamese may not be the traditional Siamese cats. There has been enough purebred cats interbred with domestic cats over the years and the gene that creates the pointing pattern may be found in a large number of cats that may look Siamese, but may have very little Siamese blood in them.

The traditional Siamese cats are very healthy with extremely good appetites and are not delicate cats at all. If you talk to breeders, they will recommend that you feed them a high quality dry food, letting them feed when they like without becoming overweight. Cats that are middle age between 5 and 10 years are more likely to have weight problems; this can be easily solved by switching to low calorie food.

There is very little grooming required as the cat will normally keep itself clean. You may want to groom it now and again to remove any excess fur but the breed does not shed fur excessively.

The Siamese cat will reach sexual maturity at a very early age the female can have her first heat at the age of 5 months, you need to consider having your cat spayed or neutered at approximately 6 months or maybe earlier. The male cat if neutered early will not generally spray, which is not a pleasant experience especially in your home.

They are very friendly cats and love people. If a stranger to them comes into the home, they will more often than not go up to them demanding to be stroked. They will even go to people who may not like cats or are allergic to them because many have a perverse nature about them.

They make extremely good family pets and are excellent with small children, especially if they are treated with respect, which is correct for any animal as far as children are concerned. They will sometimes tolerate children playing in a certain way that they will not with adults.

It is very rare to be scratched when playing with a Siamese cat as most of them learn to sheathe their claws when playing. They are very good with the older generation because of their mellow temperament and make fantastic companions and lap cats.

Not only are they good with children, if you introduce them when they are young they will become great friends with dogs or other animals. The older cat can become a great teacher for a young puppy entering the home as a pet and will probably help to teach him the house rules.

A cat by itself will be fine, although they may demand more attention from you when you get home as they can get lonely by themselves. If it is possible, two Siamese cats that are roughly the same age will become great friends, will play together, and can often be found sleeping together. But they will still crave your attention as well.

Traditional Siamese cats are very intelligent and some may be easier to train than others as they all have a different personality. If you say, “no\” once, they may stop their mischief while one who has a mischievous personality will only cause mischief when you’re not there. If taught at an early age they will go for a walk on a harness and lead. They are also very clever in teaching the humans how to play with their toys.

They are normally very good and will not scratch furniture. But they do like to use a scratching post and most breeders will recommend that you have one with easy access for the cat to use, which is far better than using your sofa.

Siamese cats are known for having a voice that sometimes can be extremely loud; sounding like the cat is in agony, which of course it is not. This may be their way of talking but if you are on the phone and they do this, the person at the other end may think there is a baby crying.

Traditional Siamese are not outdoor cats and there are many breeders who when selling you a kitten may ask you to sign a contract to confirm they will only be indoor only cats.

Overall, the classic Siamese cat, male or female, is a superb cat to own and can become a great companion or family pet. From their unique color points to their distinct voices, their health to their longevity, or from their high intelligence to their friendly and loyal nature, they are truly different from all other domestic cats.

The Wonderful World of Domain Flipping-Flipping Expired Domains to Your Advantage

Domain flipping is an exciting and a promising technique of making your expired domain a successful money earner, as well as a stable income generator. There is lot to learn from domain flipping and its wonderful principles. Domain flipping is an art of converting a dead domain into an entity that can make you rich and prosperous. Of late, domain flipping is becoming increasingly popular due to its many sided benefits and advantages. It is also a flexible way of using your expired domains to create meaningful income generating opportunity.

There are several meanings and definitions to domain flipping, what it can offer you and how it can help you use your expired domains. Due to its contrasting definitions, what makes sense and meaning to one person may be entirely different to another. Thus, you will need to learn and understand the description of domain flipping in its broader scope and context. Once you understand the broad meaning of the process, it becomes so easy to apply the principles and logic to give a big fillip to your expired domain business. Here are some simple definitions of domain flipping and what it could mean to you:

    Definition Number 1

  • You can buy a good domain name and sell it as soon as possible based on its saleable characters and merits. This is quite easy and straightforward. However, the biggest disadvantage attached with this process, is the low retail prices accrued from selling.

  • Definition Number 2

  • You can purchase a good expired domain name, start a legal business based on it, and later sell it for a premium with the domain name as the business name. This is a smart process of creating a good source of income, because you are providing some thing extra other than the expired domain. However, the downside with this method is that you need a lot of time to develop the site.

  • Definition Number 3

  • This is an extraordinary process of transforming an expired domain name into a fully loaded web portal with relevant contents, and later integrating the site with well known search engine directories, to make it visible on top of the search engines. It is also made commercially more viable by adding a good PPC campaign to enhance the viability of the web portal. Once you feel that the web portal is fully developed, you can sell it off for a very high price to interested parties.

  • Now, you can decide what exactly you need from your expired domain name. However, any of the above three domain flipping methods are good and practical based on what you are looking for and how you want to dispose off the domain. If you choose the last option, it means that you are ready to work hard to create a fully developed web site by pouring some money and time.

In spite of its numerous advantages and benefits, domain flipping could be quite negative, when inexperienced domain traders attempt to buy and sell domain names. In many cases, they may buy unnecessary and useless domains and later sell them at pathetically low prices. Thus, you will need to learn to analyze and assess expiring domain names to know more about their commercial viability. Domain flipping is a tremendous opportunity to those people who are patient enough to wait for the best time and great selling prices. But, developing a great web site is the only known way, if you want to successfully flip a domain to its fullest possible potential.
